Once again, the Gilbert & Gaillard editorial team was able to taste some very fine wines and spirits at Prowein 2025.
Held from 16 to 18 March, the German trade fair Prowein closed its doors a few days ago. Despite a drop in the number of exhibitors and a fall in the number of visitors, the German giant remains a key player in the international wine industry.
The Gilbert & Gaillard editorial team would like to share with you some of the finest discoveries (or re-discoveries) they made.
Incredible tasting of the great Venetian house, Tedeschi's range spreads out from Valpolicella to Amarone Classico Riserva. Clearely in the spotlight is the 2016 La Fabriseria cuvée, which is very close to perfection, with its incense and candied fruit aromas, and incredible fullness combined with unparalleled finesse. A monument!
Another highlight was the tasting of this Bulgarian winery, which offers very good value for money (between €5 and €10). As well as the pleasant rosé (87/100) and the excellent 2017 red (90/100), we were particularly taken with the incredible sweet wine (Melnik 55 - 2017) with its smoky, stewed nose, pleasantly syrupy on the palate, with freshness and elegance. A delightfully exotic wine.
When it comes to spirits, Guillaume Bonvalet has developed a coherent and wide range of fine products. Located in Pierry, he has created a very surprising vodka made entirely from wine products. But it was clearly their "Impatience" Malt, presented by Valentin, the company's sales rep, that won us over the most. A new organic make, produced entirely from Champagne's agricultural terroirs.
It has a dazzlingly precise nose, dominated by cereal notes of the highest quality, and is seductive on the palate with its fullness and deliciousness. A pure success.
