Beaujolais nouveau 2024, a Unique Session!
By Sylvain Patard, posted on 14 November 2024
As every autumn, a dedicated team from our organization traveled to the Beaujolais region to sample the very first wine of 2024, offering a glimpse of the year’s vintage and often setting the tone for what’s to come. This annual event is not only a festive celebration but also holds great economic significance for the region.
This year brought a rare occurrence: the Gamay harvest took place relatively late compared to recent years. The wines are, overall, highly promising, showcasing vibrant fruit qualities and reassuring acidity that provides a harmonious balance. Some even display the classic Gamay aromatic trilogy, blending floral notes (violet), spicy undertones (pepper), and fruity highlights (redcurrant, raspberry). Depending on the vineyard’s location, the wines range from light, fresh, and delightfully fruity to more structured expressions with significant aromatic generosity.
Without a doubt, with a few extra weeks of bottle rest, the 2024 Beaujolais Nouveau is set to shine in bars and restaurants starting November 21.
We are grateful to Mercedes-Benz for lending us a Vito 119 CDI FG Long Select 4x4, which greatly facilitated our travels during this exceptional tasting session!
